What We Learned About Fish

In my class we are studying fish. So I want to tell you what we learned.
Since fish don’t breath air, they’re not mammals or marine mammals. Inside the the fish is something called a swim bladder. A swim bladder helps the fish go to the surface of the water and to be the bottom of the reef. So when the swim bladder is full of air and not water the fish will rise to the surface. When the fish’s swim bladder is half air and half water the fish will hover. When the swim bladder is full of water the fish will go down near the bottom of the ocean.
There’s also something called a lateral line. A lateral line is a line on the side of the fish that senses movement that’s coming if the fish can’t see it. If a shark is coming and the fish can’t see it the lateral line will sense the shark and swim away.
Another thing we did with fish is we made a art project of our own fish. First we put glue on the outside to make a border. Then we colored it in with pastel. For the water around it we colored two or three layers of pastel.
