When our class visited The New Children’s Museum we decided to write a review when we got back to class. So we took some time to make it the best we could. So here it is. I hope you enjoy it!
The New Children’s Museum Review
The New Children’s Museum is a great and really fun place to go to. Kids can create and play with lots of things. It’s located downtown San Diego and really cool. When you walk in on the left of you is a little tower poking up. If you go down to the bottom floor, you can go in the tower. From a distance, you can see that on one wall there are four letters that spell home. It’s kind of like a mini-kid skyscraper. Inside is a pipe that goes through a floor. You can drop balls through and they land on the floor that’s under! The home tower is made from cool wood you can see from the outside. If you go to the top of the tower, you can see the entrance floor. You almost have a view of the whole museum! On the upper level is something you definitely can’t miss; it’s called The Wonder Sound. It’s my favorite exhibit in the whole museum! The Wonder Sound is part tree house, part undiscovered world with lots of walking, climbing, and crawling spaces! There’s this one room kind of hidden by the other side of The Wonder Sound entrance where you crawl in this dark tight space. Eventually you come out and into this dark small room with spoons hanging on the top, which is really cool to go to. It’s called the spoon room. There’s another room that’s really cool that you should go to in The Wonder Sound called the rope room. If you look up in that room, there’s a bunch of ropes you can climb on. I thought that room was really fun. If you climb to the top, there’s a bunch of rooms you can go into. There’s lot’s of climbing and crawling spaces in those rooms. And of course there are other really cool exhibits. I really think you should come and see these really cool exhibits at the museum. When we went our class had two hours, but you might want to stay longer. So be sure to check this awesome place out and have loads of fun!
Since The New Children’s Museum is such a cool place, I found a painting of a bird and got inspired for this piece of writing:
A vulture swoops down and lands on an oak branch. A chipmunk scurries away from that tree. A leaf gently drifts down onto the soft muddy forest ground. The forest goes wild. The vulture seems to be looking for something. But what? Suddenly he dives off heading straight toward the ground. He sees something. A small snake bitten on the side seems to be going as fast as it can into a hole he made earlier. Safe. The vulture swings back up and lands on the same oak branch. Inside the hole, after a life-threatening moment, the snake sleeps peacefully waiting for the bite to heal. “The vulture has been attacking me all day,” he says to himself. The next day the vulture circles the hole until he’s too tired and lands on a branch near by. But the snake never seems to come out. “He must come out, at least one time. He would need food,” said the vulture. It seems as if the vulture is spying on the hurt snake. But why? He’s just an ordinary snake. The snake creeps out of the hole staying very vigilant in case the vulture comes darting down. Suddenly he speeds back into his hole. The hunters shot him with a dart. It makes him very angry and wild. His next target is me. I don’t know how I’ll get away, he said to himself nervously. Suddenly he had an idea. “A trap. I’ll just trap him then take the dart and he’ll be fine.”
So the next day, when he was fully healed, he set out. The vulture wasn’t there, but the snake was still his next target. The snake’s plan was going to work. “I’ll make a fake snake that looks like me out of leaves, sticks and some mud. Then when he attacks, I’ll drop a net on him made out of leaves and sticks. When he’s trapped I’ll pull out the dart and release him. Then he’ll be fine.” So he built the fake snake of himself. Then built a net and hung it on a hidden tree branch ready to drop. Then it happened. The vulture darted straight into the fake snake and ripped it apart. Then the net came flying from the tree and landed on him. Trapped. The snake slithered down and pulled out the dart. Then he took off the net. The vulture wasn’t deadly any more and said,” Do you want to be my friend?” And the snake said sure. And they were friends forever. They even hunted together.
